Those who still have doubts about how successful the sporting mood is in today’s culture and society should reflect on a couple of pieces of news, as well as on the data presented by EOG - European Outdoor Group.

First piece of news: at its 94th edition to be held in June, Pitti Immagine Uomo, the fashion fair par excellence, will dedicate a prestigious and rich space to contemporary outdoor styles.
The new project will be called “I Go Out”: not only for outdoor and technical products, but also inspired by the new balance between man and nature: “The passion for open spaces and sport meets the most advanced design and stylistic research, coming together in a new approach to lifestyle”.

Second piece of news: € 62,400. This is the amount that a European collector paid for two trunks auctioned by Supreme, a famous streetwear/sportive brand. Incredible numbers if you think that the 145 Supreme products auctioned by Artcurial fetched a total of € 850,681, almost double the estimated value. The charm of the Sporty&Co. look!

Apart from the, almost customary, summary news, the data provided by EOG on the performance for 2017 gives comfort to the sector.
The 50 brands involved in the survey spoke positively about the result of the sell-in for last year concerning outdoor products.

In fact, 79% of those interviewed found an increase of more than two and a half percentage points. With a balanced and well-distributed growth across all product categories, despite the fact that equipment and apparel performed slightly better than others.

For almost all opinions, these results were reinforced by a better winter season than the previous one. 91% were also optimistic about the results expected for 2018, also because the factors that conditioned the success of the outdoor world should remain: increasing participation in hiking and trail running activities; growing desire for outdoor activities by those living in the city; awareness of sustainability, often associated with outdoor life.
