null It took seven years of research to develop the revolutionary Brooks Levitate. A shoe designed to guarantee the most energy return in the world of technical running shoes. Brooks Levitate is the first shoe to feature the exclusive DNA AMP midsole. Created by Brooks in collaboration with BASF, this revolutionary technology consists of an all-new polyurethane-based cushioning system designed specifically to ensure unprecedented energy return. The base of DNA AMP is a polyurethane foam that expands naturally, returning energy at the same time as the force is applied. To ensure an amplified experience, Brooks has incorporated the foam in a thermoplastic polyurethane film (TPU), which resists horizontal expansion to return energy directly to the runner. BASF explains how the new DNA AMP midsole was obtained from a new blend of Elastopan® Sports Light material. null The formula was refined, and the molecular structure of polyurethane was modified to offer enhanced comfort and durability of the midsole, able to  provide runners 72% of energy return for each foot-pound of force. Compared to other cushioning materials (e.g. EVA), the new product is able to ensure lasting wear and functionality, retaining its original thickness for much longer than other materials.
