Fimec, the best edition yet of the last three years
Organisers, exhibiting companies, and visitors confirm that the 42nd edition of Fimec was the best edition yet of the last three years, perfectly adhering to the motto “The only one with it all”.
Fimec made sure that it satisfied all expectations from 6 to 8 March in Novo Hamburgo, confirming itself to be the preferred platform for operators coming from the leather and footwear industries in Latina America, with more than 500 exhibiting companies presenting the latest innovations in terms of materials and components, chemical products, machinery, and technology for the sector.
Among the new proposals at the latest edition of Fimec was the debut of the Fimec Forum, an area dedicated to inside looks at fashion trends and business, with the contribution of important speakers, involving more than 600 sector professionals in two work sessions, which took place outside of regular fair hours. The first day dealt with fashion trends, styles, and experiences in the fashion system with Fashion Designer and Trend Forecaster Luana Lanzini and Luana Savadintzky from Fashion Directions, together with the Brazilian stylist Alexander Herchcovitch and fashion influencer Claudia Bartelle. The second day the speeches were based on the theme of business: Larissa Dalto, supervisor of the commercial marketplace for Mercado Livre, spoke of “The marketplace as a tool for selling better and more”, while Julio Martini, COO of the Camuto Group instead spoke of “Brazil for the world: where do we position ourselves in worldwide production?” Finally, the Executive Vice President of New Balance, John Wilson, held a speech on “Adapting to new customers and the reality of retail – the need to reinvent operative models”.
Otherwise, Fimec reconfirmed many of its contents, like the Fimec Studio, the area for trends that captured the attention of visitors, providing useful insights into materials and the latest trend directions, for better formulating purchasing campaigns. Just as popular were the Concept Factory and Logistics Centre. The first proposed a footwear production line with the application of the most innovative technologies; while the second presented efficient and automated processes for monitoring and organizing incoming/outgoing goods in accordance with the principles of the Industry 4.0.
Is Fimec the only fair to have it all? Certainly, it is one of the top meeting points for the leather-footwear sectors in America, as well as an extraordinary showcase for the latest technological innovations and, starting from this edition, thanks to the Fimec Forum, it will also without a doubt be the venue for sharing sector knowledge.
The next edition of Fimec will be held from 26 to 28 February 2019 at the Fenac exhibition complex in Novo Hamburgo.
