Lineapelle is growing, while components are strugglingFulvia Bacchi, director of UNIC and UNAC, draws a profile of the most important event dedicated to the world of leather, accessories and components for footwear and leather goods.
The “dance” of fairs dedicated to the fashion world has started and also events dedicated to materials and components for the upcoming spring/summer season 2019 have obviously come up on the scene.
These include the events organized by Lineapelle in London and New York, which have been very successful, while awaiting the Queen’s event in Milan, from 20 to 22 February.
The London meeting – reports Fulvia Bacchi, director of UNIC, the Italian association of tanners, organizer of Lineapelle – has allowed fifty companies to meet the most important British brands and above all to get in touch with young world-class designers present in the English capital.
The US market, however, gives cause of concern: “At this time the USA – continues Bacchi – deserves a thought related to costs. American brands are trying to save as much as possible, so they focus on a low price range. Despite this, Italian quality continues to be desired, as demonstrated by the success of the event held in the Big Apple, which saw 120 companies satisfied with the obtained results”.
What are the novelties, instead, for the Lineapelle edition in Milan?
“The event has grown significantly in terms of exhibitors, compared to the same edition of 2017. The layout of some spaces has been completely redesigned to make the visit of buyers even more agile, who will find specific areas dedicated to different sectors such as boating, automotive and furniture. The technical conferences that will take place during the fair will be very important as we are tired that the tanning sector is being continuously attacked on sustainability issues and we want to clarify and provide correct information on an industry that is amongst the most attentive to environmental”.
And concerning the world of components and accessories?
“We keep on relunching UNAC – National Union of Accessories and Components, which has officially returned to the scope of Confindustria. As for the market: since the world of footwear is still undergoing a crisis, companies producing for it are having tough times, whereas those working with other sectors are doing well”.
