lpThe 96th edition of Lineapelle reaffirmed its undisputed global leadership, offering exhibitors the real opportunity to meet interested and interesting customers, who have rewarded the top of the range. It showed how much further the speed of interaction between supplier and customer has increased, minimising the time between order and delivery, placing more and more importance on planning ahead and trying to find technical solutions that may be of real interest to customers. Maximum product quality, excellent and efficient services, absolute speed. All this, to create a common denominator that has gone from being a generic mission to a marketing and communication focal point: a real sustainable approach.
Held at Fieramilano Rho on Febraury 20th to 22th February 2019, the fair welcomed 1,255 exhibitors from 49 countries to an exhibition area of 47,500 square meters, with the participation of important institutional offices such as Alberto Bonisoli, Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities, and Cristina Tajani, Councillor for Labour Policies, Production Activities, Trade and Human Resources for the City of Milan.
Just like the September 2018 edition, the presence of client companies also increased at Lineapelle 96 (+1% over the February 2018 edition), coming from a greater number of countries: 114. There was a significant growth in visiting companies from Portugal (+6%), United States (+6%), France (+2%), United Kingdom (+2%), Switzerland (+8%), India (+7%), China (+2%), Japan (+19%), Russia (+29%).
With the collaboration of MISE (Ministry of Economic Development and ICE (Italian Trade and Investment Agency), some foreign delegations enjoyed in-depth tours in the Italian production districts, a further demonstration of how Lineapelle offers its target audience opportunities to discover and get to know the industry.lp
Stylistic themes for the 2020 summer season were presented, developed by the Fashion Committee and based on the theme “Co-Natural”. In light of a captivating interpretation of a future based on the creative interpenetration between humans and technology, the three renewed Trend Areas and stylistic seminars emphasised how fashion increasingly thrives on unprecedented, unpredictable and innovative contaminations.
Finally, the fair featured two events, which were both extremely popular with visitors and operators of the industry. The first involved an in-depth and stimulating discussion entitled “The Circularity of Italian Leather – 360° Sustainability”. Organised by UNIC – the Italian Tanners’ Association (in collaboration with Confindustria and Lineapelle), alongside a gallery of products and accessories made by companies in the supply chain using production waste. It told the story of a series of virtuous experiences that demonstrate how the “Italian tanning industry” has been able to go beyond its sectorial horizon, creating the conditions for its production waste to become raw materials for other industrial supply chains, starting a real symbiosis with the entire value chain.” The second event brought more than 1,000 middle-school students in the Italian tanning districts to the Fieramilano Rho for the eighth edition of the “Amici per la Pelle” artistic competition, organised by UNIC – the Italian Tanners’ Association, which this year was dedicated to the theme “Movie Tan”.
Lineapelle97 will take place in October 2019, from Wednesday the 2nd to Friday the 4th, and will showcase the samples for the 2020/2021 winter season. It will first stop off in London on 9 July 2019 at the Ham Yard Hotel and then in New York on 17 and 18 July 2019 at its usual venue of the Metropolitan Pavilion.
