The global healthcare emergency had a significant impact on production and exports in the leather industry: the latest available economic data drawn up by the Economic Service of UNIC based on ISTAT data demonstrates how in January-May 2020, the Italian tanning industry lost -32% of its seasonal revenue and -24% of its production volume. As far as finished leather exports are concerned, there were drops of -35% in value and -26% in volume: an economic trend also shared by the other product groups represented at the fair: producers of accessories and components for footwear and leather goods, and textile and synthetic material manufacturers.

To serve as a turning point for the sector and underline its clear desire for recovery, Lineapelle – A New Point of View confirms its dates on 22 and 23 September, getting ready to host 320 exhibitors coming from 14 countries in halls 5 and 7 of FieraMilano Rho. The event will be held in conjunction with other fashion industry events – MICAM, Mipel, The One and Homi-Fashion & Jewels – to signal the solidity and relaunching of strategic sectors in the Made in Italy supply chain and manufacturing industry which, in recent months, have suffered heavy setbacks due to the pandemic.

As to the contents of Lineapelle – A New Point of View, safety will take centre stage, thanks to the safety protocols adopted together with FieraMilano, so that all industry professionals can do business in complete safety. At the same time, the Fall/Winter 2021/22 collections of leathers, accessories, and components for footwear and leather goods, will be the protagonists of the exhibition and of the Trend Selection areas developed by the Lineapelle Fashion Committee, which are dedicated to the theme The Era Of Simplifying 2 – Slow Is The New Hot, as a way of repossessing time and values.
