The Rino Mastrotto Group, world leader in the production of leather from Vicenza, acquires Nuova Obsa from Fucecchio. The transaction – as stated by La Conceria magazine represents “a sign of faith for a company that is a symbol of craftsmanship and of Made in Italy”, and will allow this giant from Vicenza, which is already a leader in the supply of leather for the automotive, furniture, and fashion segments, to extend its offering with the calf and half leather that this tannery from the Santa Croce Sull'Arno tanning district produces for footwear and leather goods. The expectation of RMG is that, with its entry into the group, Nuova Osba can benefit from significant growth.

Nuova Osba, a historic tannery in the Santa Croce leather district founded in the Seventies, is specialised in full grain classic leathers, natural, smooth or with grainy leathers, and pure-aniline leathers and brush-off for high-end fashion brands: “We are pleased to become a part of Rino Mastrotto Group and are certain that this operation is a good omen for all – declares Maila Famiglietti, vice president of Nuova Osba -. This agreement will support our brand in growing even more in the luxury and high-end market. Additionally, we will be able to increment our visibility and consolidate our market share. In a situation like this, during which the market is so peculiar, this operation is a clear positive sign for our sector”.

Rino Mastrotto Group, a company, partially owned by PE fund NB Renaissance, employs 850 people, and had a revenue of 310 million euro in 2019 (+24% over 2015). In the final purchasing agreement reached on Wednesday 30 June, legal advisor Deloitte assisted with the deal, along with environmental advisor ERM, and financial advisor Studio Dami.
