Providing further evidence of its commitment to sustainability, Texon today announced that one of its materials, Texon Vogue Sahara, has received a Gold level Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certificate, awarded by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute – a global, not-for-profit organization, dedicated to transforming the safety, health and sustainability of products through its Certified Product Standard.
Cradle to Cradle Certified™ identifies safer, more sustainable products, made for the circular economy. Texon became involved in the Cradle to Cradle community in 2019 at the invitation of G-Star Raw, which wanted to source an environmentally friendly jacron label material, aligned with the high standards it sets for its denim range.
Based on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper, Texon Vogue is already a highly sustainable product. Recognized as a vegan friendly alternative to leather-based products, this durable, washable, paper-based material has a range of uses and is certified for jacron applications – including the production of jean labels.
At the request of G-Star Raw, Texon worked with the denim supplier and Eco Intelligent Growth (EIG), a Barcelona-based circular economy consultancy, to ensure that its Texon Vogue Sahara production processes conformed to Cradle to Cradle’s Gold Material Health standards, reached also thanks to one change to its manufacturing process – switching to a chlorine-free bleaching solution.
Texon Vogue is available in a range of colors and finishes and is used by many of the world’s biggest brands. Texon Vogue Sahara is a beige material, certified for jacron applications including jeans labels, easy to stitch onto denim garments, can also withstand stone washing, enzyme washing and dry-cleaning. Dimensionally stable, it does not shrink or stretch, but does wrinkle slightly after washing, delivering a natural vintage look. Outside the fashion industry, Texon Vogue is used in the manufacture of bags, book bindings, cases, furniture and luggage tags.
